We use solid white Delrin rod for our perch system ranging from 0.5 inch to 2.5 inch in diameter. The system has cross members and is keyed to prevent rotation. The solid rod is also heavy giving the animal a sense of security when cruising around the cage or grabbing prey from the tongs when feeding. We developed a universal bracket which accommodates our full range of keyed perch diameters as our Basins grow in size. The perches simply lift off making the removal of an animal quite easy. As the Basin matures, we try to maintain a perch diameter equal to half the girth of the animal. To avoid corrosion due to high humidity, all fastening hardware such as screws used in the cage interior are either stainless steel or nylon depending on structural requirements.
